Community Engagement In Drama Groups

In our attempt to promote nature based solutions to save River Nyamwamba, we have not forgotten to engage communities especially the youth in activities that occupy them.

One such  activity that NRDI has actively embraced  are drama groups that have basically been trained in dramas that are more in line with environmental conservation and protection.

Kyanjuki drama group in Bulembia Division has been one of the beneficiaries and they have ably performed during several functions with their main emphasis being on themes about environmental protection and conservation.

Edgar Muganzi the Team leader NRDI explains that drama Nourishes the Imagination. These activities nurture spontaneity and help the youth think on their feet and use their imaginations. The Youth learn empathy and to understand how others feel. They identify emotions and how to express them. Drama also teaches patience and commitment which will help us to achieve our goal of sensitizing communities in environment conservation in the long run.
