The LCV Chairperson Ntoroko District Hon. Willian Kasoro has cautioned residents of Bweramule Subcounty in Ntoroko District on environmental conservation.

This was during a hand over ceremony of two hundred and fifty-seater tents and Chairs to Kyappa River Bank Management Group on Thursday.

Hon. Kasoro said that with River Semulik cross -cutting areas of Ntoroko District, residents need to be extra careful with environmental practices otherwise the River will continue taking over the biggest part of the land.

“Stop indulging in poor environmental practices like Bush burning, Charcoal Burning, grazing on the Banks of River Semulik and other practices that are degrading the environment,” he said adding that non-adherence will lead to calamities in the area.

According to Herbert Kamuhanda the Senior Environmental Officer Ntoroko, the Ministry of Water and Environment under Leaf II Project in partnership with NRDI is implementing a number of activities in Ntoroko District aimed at preserving the Environment.

“NRDI has implemented activities like building of Cattle troughs, fencing off some meters off River Semulik to allow regeneration and improving the Water sector generally, “he said.

He appreciated NRDI for the good work exhibited and asked Ministry of Water and Environment for more support to Ntoroko District since it is more prone.

According to Edgar Muganzi the Executive Director NRDI, the Tents and Chairs are aimed at boosting livelihoods of group members as well as help in the sustainability of the Water facilities that have been installed.

“Please note that these Tents and Chairs are meant to sustain the Facilities that we have put in place, in case of any repairs use the money you have generated from the Tents and Chairs so that these facilities keep functioning well,” he said.
